2020 Numbers Reported
Fri. Feb 5th 2021

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue finished 2020 with 654 calls recorded.

2020's numbers represent an increase of 16.57% over the number of calls we responded to in 2019, when we responded to 561 calls. The busiest month was August, when Tropical Storm Isaias arrived on August 4. Within the first 24 hours of the storm, Sandy Hook firefighters responded to approximately 80 calls.

(For details, visit our Call Volume page.)

The company also had 21 training sessions, 54 work sessions, and 17 company/business meetings last year. Out of caution for our members, we put company/business meetings on hiatus last spring during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. We additionally canceled one meeting at the end of the year when COVID cases in the region began spiking again.

Note training was not canceled, however. We continued training all year, putting safety procedures in place so that members could continue training while also staying safe.

Please remember this when we hold fundraisers: Your donations help us serve you.

It is an honor to serve the district of Sandy Hook, Connecticut,

and to offer mutual aid to our regional brothers and sisters.
