Back To Basics Training: Airpacks (Sunday, January 12, 2025)

Sandy Hook VFR started the new year with its first training session of the month, led by MissionCIT Instructors Bill Stacey and Tim DeBaise. The focus was on airpacks.

Members began with a brief classroom session, during which they went over the equipment and uses in different scenarios.

The group moved out to the bays of Sandy Hook’s main station for the practical, when members did timed runs, continued working with the packs, and following hoselines while their eyes were covered, to replicate interior fire scenes when visibility is extremely limited. 

MissionCIT Instructors Tim DeBaise and Bill Stacey opened Sunday’s training with a classroom session, going over airpacks and their uses and options in myriad scenarios.

DeBaise works with one group of firefighters in the bays during the practical portaion of training.
