Ladies Auxiliary

The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary is a dedicated group of women who support the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company. The auxiliary provides assistance with events, fundraising, and community outreach, enabling the fire company to better serve the community. Their efforts demonstrate the power of volunteerism and community spirit. 

The Auxiliary is a separate division of SHVFR, with its own bylaws and rules and regulations.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the SHVFR main station. All are welcome. Members do not need to live in the Sandy Hook district, nor have partner or family in the fire company in order to join the Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary’s current president (2024-25) is Sharon Doherty. Additional officers are Kristina Knapp, vice president; Barbara Engelke, secretary; and Christine O’Grady, treasurer.
