Following the Fireman's Parade that opened the 59th Bridgewater Country Fair on Friday, August 20, Sandy Hook was awarded a pair of trophies for the efforts of those who participated in the annual event that marks the unofficial opening of the three-day event.

On a very hot & humid Saturday, July 24, Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue managed to pull through and bring home four awards from the 129th anniversary Thomaston Parade. The parade stepped off at 6 pm, but the company didn't take off until closer to 6:30 and concluded marching just before 7:30.

After attending auditions, being accepted and then being taped for the game show "Deal or No Deal" back in September, Karin Halstead was finally able to celebrate with friends this afternoon when the game show she competed on was finally aired on NBC TV.

Members met at the station at 7:30 am to travel to the City of Danbury's fire training center for a Sunday morning of live fire training. For almost four hours, firefighters rotated through several positions including fire attack, search and rescue, and RIT.

Almost 30 members of Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue awoke early on a cold Sunday to attend an ice rescue drill. The day started at 8 am with a lecture and video given by Mike McCarthy of Advanced Rescue Techniques.

Christmas trees arrived in Sandy Hook on Friday, November 27. Stephen Capozziello and Steve Stohl made their annual trek to northern Vermont ("another mile and you'd be in Canada!"), leaving Sandy Hook very early Friday morning and returning by mid-afternoon.
